Title: A Birthday Disaster (1)
It was the fourth of June and I woke up with a huge smile on my face. My birthday had finally arrived! I was to be fourteen and I was having a huge party. Everyone I was acquainted with was invited so I wanted everything to be impeccable.
A soon as I was up, my mother came running to me to wish me a great birthday. She congratulated me with a joyful hug and as the rest of my family joined her, I found myself juggling three enormous presents. Then, the smell of freshly baked muffins tantalised me into the kitchen for breakfast. Just as I was done pigging out, the doorbell rang and I ran to answer it. It was my friends Nichole and Vanessa. As I beckoned them inside I realized they were sniggering at my distasteful choice of orange top and red bottomed pajamas, which by the way I was still wearing. I had overlooked that little detail.
We spent the whole morning preparing for the special event. After that, I went to get ready and as I put the final touches to perfect my look, I stepped away from the mirror.
A while later, accompanied by my friends I made my way to the pool house where I was having my party. It was nicely-decorated with balloons and party poppers. The table was elegantly set with scrumptious-looking snacks, the music was just right and to top it all of there was even a disco ball. The weird thing was that even after thirteen years my stomach still did a somersault at the thought of all the presents.
Soon, the guests started arriving and everything was going to be perfect. Or so I thought. The party had barely started when we ran out of drinks and my precious ice-cream cake had started to melt. I wanted to burst into tears but I did not want to draw attention. Unfortunately it felt like humiliation was unavoidable, just as I was on my way to the shop for more drinks, a girl bumped into me and the piece of pizza she had been munching on landed on my outfit. She even had the nerve to walk away without apologizing to me.
My party went from impeccable to a complete disaster! I was so miserable that I just stood there not even daring to move. I looked around and realized that everyone else was having a blast. They did not care about the little details like the cake or the drinks they were just enjoying themselves. It was about time I did the same! So I joined them and ended up having a great time. It was not as enjoyable as I hoped but on the bright side I had another birthday coming up next year!
